Balzac

So we arrive at Canada Customs.
The customs officer is a nice guy and we declare everything.$4,698.01 and 75 litres of wine.
He gives us the famous yellow slip and sends us inside to pay.

Next we meet the greatest Customs Officer in the World.
He tells us it's going to cost us $52.65 for the wine and that's all.He says Christmas came early for us and carry on.
WOW!
What a country.
I guess honesty is the best policy.Sometimes.

We are now in Balzac at Bucers RV,hoping to get our electrical fixed.

Peggy must be quite concerned as she is getting her hair done.

And Bob's your uncle.

No Where

No where! That's where we are.

We left at the crack of 12 noon and travelled to here.
Where is here?

A rest stop in the middle of no where.

We are probably 120 miles from the border but what's the hurray.

Nothing to report so here is a joke

Ole and Sven were fishing in the Minnesota opener when Sven pulled out a cigar.   Finding he had no matches, he asked Ole for a light.
'Ya, shure, I tink I haff a lighter,'  he replied, and then, reaching into his tackle box, he pulled out a Bic lighter 10 inches long.

'Yiminy Cricket!' exclaimed Sven, taking the huge Bic lighter in his hands. 'Vere dit yew git dat monster??'

'Vell,' replied Ole,  'I got it from my Genie.'

'You haff a Genie?' Sven asked.

'Ya, shure. It's right here in my tackle box,' says Ole.

'Could I see him?'

Ole opens his tackle box and sure enough, out pops the Genie.

Addressing the genie, Sven says, 'Hey dere! I'm a good friend of your master. Vill you grant me vun vish?'

'Yes, I will,' says the Genie.

So Sven asks the Genie for a million bucks.

The Genie disappears back into the tackle box leaving Sven sitting there waiting for his million bucks. Shortly, the sky darkens and is filled with the sound of a million ducks... Flying directly overhead.

Over the roar of the million ducks, Sven yells at Ole, 'Yumpin' Yimminy, I asked for a million bucks, not a million ducks!'

Ole answers, 'Ya, I forgot to tell yew dat Da Genie is hart of hearing.  Do yew really tink I asked for a 10-inch Bic?'

Troubles

Troubles
No not the kind that live in Kelowna

These troubles are the kind you don't want

Electrical troubles.
I'm not going into detail but their pissing me off.I've spent a lot of time trying to fix them but I can't figure them out.

One of them involves the pump to the transmission on the car so Peg has to drive the car all the way home and she's not happy.

We are now just outside of Butte Montana so we will probably make the border today.

Ogden,Utah

Spent the night here in a Flying J at Ogden,UT.
Arrived after dark as there was an accident just south of Salt Lake City which it took over an hour to pass by
How exciting eh!

And I parked beside the noisiest reefer on the planet.

Las Vegas

Here we are in Lost Wages

We do not have any wages to lose but we do have our kid's inheritance.

We are staying at the beautiful Oasis RV Park on S Las Vegas Blvd.

Last night we went out for dinner and did manage to deplete their inheritance slightly.

This never happened

And it never does. When we go to the casino we decide how much we are going to lose and when that happens, and it always does,we quit.
Well,we almost always quit,maybe,sometimes.

Ah,but it is Vegas

Golfing

Everybody wanted us to go golfing.
We thought they liked us.

I played with Rod,Mel and Jim

Peg played with Grace,Vicky and Lori

When we were done we finally figured it out.We had not played golf since November and everybody else played all winter.
They wanted our money! X#@&

Mel took all my money

Lori took all Peg's

Now what do we do.
We have no money.

Afterwards we went to The Organ Stop for pizza.
Peg and I didn't get home till very very late as there were one hell of a pile of dishes to do cause it was a very busy night.

All kidding aside we had a great time golfing and afterwards.
We said our good-byes as tomorrow we are getting out of Dodge.

Shopping

After someone got their manicure and pedicure(not me) it was time to go shopping.

First it was Total Wines and more for 75 litres of white. That's 15 boxes with 5 litres in each box.
With tax the total was $146.72
  Thats $1.96 a litre.
We called the border and they said they are going to charge us $3.67 a box or .74 a litre
That makes it a total of $2.70 a litre
At home the same brand is $11.33 a litre

We saved enough to buy a box of Canadian beer?

Next it was the PGA Tour store so Peg could get more Jamie
There she did get a great deal. One scort was $115.00 but when he scanned it it came out at $23.99
Start the car!

Last it was Costco.
The real bargain there was 4 lbs of butter for $7.49
The car is already running

St.Paddy's

We arrived in Mesa and had just enough time to get cleaned up and head for Mel and Grace's.

We were of course too late to make the golf but were just in time for the party.

The cooks were a cooking
and of course the rest were
a drinking

Mel of course was Melling

Everyone was having a good time.
I thought I took a lot of pictures of everyone but apparently I didn't.
A bunch of folks are not in any of my pics.
I was tired I guess.

Something else was going on.
At first I could not figure out what
what all the excitement was about.
Then it dawned on me.

Jim had brought out his wallet

You should have seen all the moths!
he he

As is the annual tradition Gracie made a great meal of corned beef, cabbage and other assorted goodies.
Fantastic.

We had a great time even though we could not stay long as we were exhausted and it was a long way back home to the rig in the dark

Sunday

Sunday we headed over to our friends and travelling buddies Mike,Dianne and Driver's for brunch.

They were here but were leaving Monday morning so it was our only time to visit.
Dianne put on a great spread as usual and it was awesome to see them again.

We have Dish Network up and running again so we were able to record the race and watch it after we got home

32 beats 37 eh Mel

Back in the USA

Left los Mochas at 6:15 am.
First stop was to get gas and coffee.
Somehow I miscalculated and we did not have enough Pesos for the gas.OH OH
They did not take debit cards or credit cards but it's ok all Oxxo's have an ATM
Not this one and they want cash
Finally realized I had some US dollars and they took that.Beat me up a little on the rate but what can you do.
We had a good trip back, lots of construction but back in the USA before 3pm

Went to pick up the rig but it won't start.Don't understand it cause I shut the battery cut off switches off before I left it.The house batts were fine but not the starters.
We had met a guy,Bill, in the bar the night before we left here, who works at a repair garage,so I went and found him.We hooked 2 twelve volt boosters to the sucker and it fired right up.
I hope it starts in the morning cause we have to be to Mel and Grace's by 4.

Her is a little joke for ya

Bert always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots, so, seeing some on
sale, he bought them and wore them home.

Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his wife,
 "Notice anything different about me?"

 Margaret looked him over. "Nope."

Frustrated, Bert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back
into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots.

Again he asked Margaret, a little louder this time, "Notice anything
 different NOW?"

Margaret looked up and said in her best deadpan, "Bert, what's different?
It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging
 down again tomorrow."

Furious, Bert yelled, "AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S HANGING DOWN, MARGARET?"

"Nope.  Not a clue", she replied.

"IT'S HANGING DOWN, BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!!!!"

Without missing a beat Margaret replied, "Shoulda bought a hat, Bert.
 Shoulda bought a hat."

Los Mochas

So yesterday we ended up going out for breakfast at Ya Ya's

They do have a unique way of
serving the cream for the coffee.

Then it was back to the villa to pack the car and a little time at the pool.

Next we stopped by to say good-bye to all our friends at the Huanacaxtle Bar.Fantastic people.

After that  we went for dinner with Bob and Cindy at Tacos on the Street.Great Tacos

On the way home we went back to the Huanacaxtle for our very, very, very last one and good-bye again.

Troy and Dootsie thought they might meet us at Taco's but they never showed.

So we went by their place and bugged them
Then it was off to bed.

6am rolled around pretty quick and we got out of Dodge at 6:45.Arrived Los Mochas at about 4pm.
we are half way to the border and will head out again in the morning.

Last Day in Paradise

Yesterday we just did the pool stuff then went to town.
Stopped at the Oyster bar for a couple then the Huanacaxtle, over to Frascatti's for the best Chicken Fettucini Alfredo, then back to the Huanacaxtle and home to bed.

Today is our last day here in Paradise, till next December,so we will mostly be packing up with some pool time.
Then we are going to do Tacos on the Street for the last time.
Hopefully we will be on the road tomorrow morning about 7.

Adios Amogos

Jorge and Brenda took us to the Marina for breakfast and I had a great omelette. We visited for quite a while and then said our good-byes till next November.

After that it was down to the pool for a while to try and soak up some rays before we head home.

We didn't realize that we had so many steaks left in the freezer so we had Cindy and Bob(He's not my uncle)over for a BBQ.We had a great visit. They twisted our arms, forcing us into drinking again.
We would be so pure if it was not for our bad influences.

Anyway! Thought this was interesting.

This guy travels around sharpening knives for the restaurants and private citizens the old fashioned inexpensive way.

No More Troubles

Saturday we just hung around the pool again,Tim and Linda were soaking up their last rays of sunshine as they were going home on Sunday.

We also waved good bye to Jerry and Lauren to sailed out to sea on their continued voyage.

Our neighbour Troy stopped by and reminded us that daylight time would be over tonight and remember to put the clocks ahead one hour.(they have Canadian satellite tv)

After the pool we hit Tacos on the Street early and got a seat without waiting. After enjoying our feast of Tacos we headed for the Huanacaxtle Bar where the Troubles said good bye to everyone.
Then it was back to their place to polish of some booze they had left.
We reminded them to put their clock forward and headed home.

Sunday morning we dropped bye the troubles to say good bye.
They were really pleased that we got them up and hour before they needed to as they found out that you don't put your clock ahead here till the end of the month.
Oh dear
It's no fine waiting around for the trip to the airport and a lot less fun if you have to wait an extra hour.
Hey! What are friends for?
We said our good-byes and promised to keep in touch

I'm sure we will.We did have a lot of laughs together.

Later we were annoyed by a helicopter buzzing around for over an hour before the four big matching helicopters arrived with the last one carrying The President of Mexico.
He arrived at the Marina got on a Yacht and headed out to sea to start the sailboat races. We are having a big regatta here.
In my opinion watching sailboat races is like watching paint dry but everybody to their own thing.

Next we went over to Troy and Dootsie's to watch the Nascar race(That's 3 boring races in a row)
Then we went with them to Bucerias for dinner at another restaurant on the beach that we have never been to
We had a great time and great food
Troy and Dootsie don't drink so they did not twist our arms and make us drink too much like some people we know.

The Troubles

Not a lot

No there is not a lot to report.
It is really getting hot down here so we have been hanging out by the pool a lot

We went back to Taco's on the Street but there was a line up that stretched from here to Canada
Well maybe not quite that long but it was long.We do not do line ups so we went to a different one.
There was Tim,Linda,Jorge,Brenda and us.We were all fine but the food not so much.No comparison to the other joint.

Linda of course was her usual shy self.

Some how we all ended back at our joint for our very, very, very last one
those pictures are of course censored.

On a completely different note: this sailboat got stuck in the channel that goes into the Marina when the tide was out,but the cops pulled it to deeper water.
Tim got stuck in the pool but we got him out without the help of the cops.

I wonder what keeps Peg afloat

We had big plans for dinner last night .We were returning to The Pacifica where I had the best steak that I have had in a restaurant in Mexico.
Linda went on line and booked us a table not too near the live band.
When we arrived the sign on the door said"Closed for renovations"
Sure!
You always close a restaurant for renovations on Friday night during high season?
I think they probably went tits up
So it was off to the Wine and Tapas joint for appies then over to Franscatis for dinner.

And Bob's your uncle

More

More relaxing
We had another relaxing day which we enjoyed.
This morning we took the mutts into town for a bath and a clipping.
While they were there we visited the Marina for breakfast.
Later in the afternoon we stopped by the oyster bar for a couple and the Huanacaxtle for a couple before picking the kids up.
Then it was off to get fresh veggies, then the market for fresh fish and home to cook it.

The following is just an interesting tid bit that happened outside the Haunacaxtle bar.

There is a lot of road repair going on here in town as the President of Mexico is coming for a visit.

They were trying to load this packer on to the trailer
First they tried it frontwards but the roller would not fit between the fenders.
Then they decided to back it on,but could go no further as the roller would not go between the fenders
Just as they were about to leave I had to tell him to check his rear tire.

You will note that first of all the tires are the wrong size. They do not fit in the fenders cause they are too wide.Secondly there is too much rear weight so when the trailer moves they are going to cut down the tire.
The solution: They run the other tires up on blocks so the suspension drops then they pry the fenders up off the tire

Nice?

All fixed now they head down the road.

I figure they should have made it at least 2 blocks before they cut the tire and they did not even check the other side.
Only in Mexico
